From hypoallergenic bedding to hypoallergenic makeup; now allergy sufferers are choosing from many different types of hypoallergenic dogs. What makes a dog hypoallergenic? It means essentially that dogs of this type simply produce less dander, much less dander than other dog types. It can also mean that their coats are less prone to attracting dust and pollen.
Dander, Dust and Pollen
Dog dander is what attacks allergy sufferers the most. Dog dander is the skin of a dog shedding off being left here and there around your house. It’s very sticky and can float through your home affecting your eyes and nose. It tends to be that single coat and hairless coat dogs cause the smallest amount of allergic reactions. Grooming: Monthly grooming is a great way to keep your dogs coat short and clean, lessening how much dust and pollen your dog can collect.
Brushing and Bathing: Brushing is one way to clean your dogs fur. Bathing your dog on a regular basis will wash and keep out the pollens and dander stuck to your dogs coat.
Hypoallergenic Bedding: Pillows and other bed linens with allergen protection made just for allergy sufferers help keep the dander from collecting where you sleep.
Use HEPA Vacuum and Air Filters: Replace all of your filters with high efficiency air filters (HEPA). These filters are best suited for trapping allergens without recycling them through the house.
