Description & Appearance:
The Miniature Pincher is a small, compact and sturdy dog with a short smooth coat. He is confident and full of self-importance. They resemble the Doberman Pincher with their muscular lines, sloping back and high stepping gait, but have no relation. The Minpin’s coat comes in a variety of colors from Stag-red or red with mixture of black hairs, to solid red and the classic black and tan. Their short straight coat makes this breed especially easy to keep clean.
Temperament:
Miniature Pinchers are a bright and spirited breed with a demanding flair to them. They are fearless and little aware of their size. Inquisitive of everything, they befriend other pets and people easily and are always raring to play.Socialization early in life plays an important role as their willful attitude can make them suspicious and overly-protective. They do well with considerate young children. They make great watchdogs and with their personable character, make great companion dogs.
Health:
This breed is generally healthy with little known congenital defects and barring any accidents, this breed should see 15 years in life or better. During the winter months, be sure to have a warm hoodie or sweater for the outdoors as they are intolerant of the cold.Care & Grooming:
This breed is well adjusted to indoor living and thrives well with only moderate activity. They should have the occasional walks through the park or romp through backyard to satisfy their natural needs to explore. They like to dig and chew things, so one will soon have a watchful eye on their Minpin.Grooming is easy with the Miniature Pincher. An occasional brushing or wipe with a damp cloth will keep their coat clean. They shed an average amount.
History:
The Miniature Pincher has its ancestry with the German Pincher. They were originally bred as ratters to rid the stables and kitchens of rodents.More Information:
